A question for all HAIRSTYLISTS out there...?

I am somewhat confused. I am wanting to get my haircut this week, but for my entire life (im 21 now), i've always somehow gotten a bad hairdresser and over paid for the haircut. I want to know what questions I can ask to be sure that the hairstylist I am going to knows what they are doing.

I am also asian and was wondering if hairstylists of any other race than asian, get taught a special way to cut asian hair since it grows much differently, etc. Thanks so much. By the way, I have a round face, seemingly big head, and forehead, so what I want is a medium/short length cut, that gives me lots of volume at the back and top of my head (since its always the flattest part of my hair, as compared to the ends, which always have enough volume) Anyways, I want to hide or make my head seem smaller anyhow, with a complimenting haircut....any ideas (what kinda layers, bangs, no bangs, etc etc)? Thanks!

The best way to get the cut you want is to take a picture with you to show them. We were never taught any different ways to cut hair, but I went to Cosmetology in the 80's. It might be different now. As for fixing the flat parts, you might want to try just a root perm if you don't want the ends of your hair changed.

I say a bob with layers in the back(shorter in the back)...with sharp cut in the front...bob r classic

Generally speaking, you get what you pay for. Cheap cuts are a risk, but then, so are expensive ones. The best way to find a great stylist is to notice hair styles that look like what you're wanting, and then stop that person on the street and ask for her stylist's phone number!

Good luck you you, I wouldn't attempt a consultation without seeing the client face to face.
