I have an oval face, thick hair with a bit of wave, shoulder length and i straighten it everyday.

the first. The second would be a pain in the butt to straighten, those layers would make it more difficult. At least with the first one, if you're having a bad hair day (or just in need of time) you can straighten just the bangs quickly and smooth the rest into a ponytail, something I used to do on many a humid day.

The haircut looks the same to me. One is just longer on the left, the other longer on the right. Both the same style though.
I like them both, but think the darker one looks better because it's more natural looking. Still think it's pretty much the same thing though.

I think #2 is a cuter haircut but have you looked at how short some of those layers are on her hair. Are you willing to go that short? It is also a hard cut to grow out. It is really cute and very in right now but I just wanted to pt out a few things. You could do that cut but a longer version.
